PICK ME UP >>> It all started when a team of 42 people from multi-racial and diverse cultural backgrounds came together on a Friday evening to write a book.
Where it all began…. the 24 hour challenge!
Our first challenge was to launch the book in 24 hours. And after a gruelling 24 hours, we did the seemingly impossible!
The book was born and announced to the world at 5.15pm on Saturday (12 January 2008), ready to be picked up!
The book, “Pick Me Up” was written to share with the world how 42 people (from 20 years old to 66 years old) have picked themselves up from their problems, and turned their dreams into reality within a short span of 2 months. These 42 people come from diverse background of bankers, entrepreneurs, directors (including one of a real estate company), students, and housewives.
As if that extraordinary feat is not enough, they compounded the challenge by setting a target to reach out to 10 million people and sell 10,000 books – in 24 hours. Unfortunately, that did not succeed.
However, undaunted, our group, decided to go all out to make things happen. From the initial timeline of 24 hours, we extended our commitment to another 72 hours (from 2pm on 15 January 2008 to 2pm on 18 January 2008). We wanted to reach out to more people in the world, to inspire them with a simple yet profound message.
This is our commitment – to tell the world that even the impossible can be attempted. Not only are we determined to have this message heard by the world, we are committed not to let any setbacks stop us.
The results?
Pick Me Up managed to gather over 2000 book sales, and raised a total fund in excess of $45,000 for Make-A-Wish Foundation®, including a generous $15,000 contribution from The Lee Foundation and $3000 from the public.

The Pick Me Up book reached bestseller status in Borders (Wheelock) and Harris Bookstore, and were even sold out of stock!
We also had the fortunate opportunity to grant the wish of two wish children from Make-A-Wish Foundation®, Nathalie and Charmaine Tan.
The 2nd edition of the Pick Me Up Book (both English and Chinese versions) were launched to celebrate Charmaine’s wish of publishing her own book!
It all started with our dream of writing a book…
Would you like to start working on yours too?
